This memorial is dedicated to my great grandmother Angeline Moore Duckworth. She was the daughter of Thomas J. Moore and Lucy Jane Davis the forth child of five. Angeline's mother passed away shortly after the birth of the youngest child Marion.
Angeline married Justus Duckworth on February 28, 1883 at her maternal grandfather Henry Davis home place in North Okaw Twp, Coles County, Illinois. She was sixteen and Justus was twenty-three.
Angeline was bilingual, her third great grandfather Johannes Braun immigrated from Palatinate, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, in October 20, 1752 on the Duke of Wirtenburg. Angeline taught all her children German and when she or the kids didn't want Justus to know what they were talking about they would talk in German.
The German language was not passed on in my side of the family.
Angeline's sixth child Eligha enlisted into the Army on June 5, 1917. On July 4, 1918 Eligha died at the battle of Le Hamel, France and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Angeline was the mother of Willie, Walter, Belle, Charlie, Eligha, Grace Maggie,Howard, Angeline,
Glenard and Flossie
