Helen Virginia Anderson Akerill passed away Sept. 23, 2010 in Vancouver, WA. She was born in Seattle, WA on Aug. 13, 1920 to Alfred and Helen ( Larson) Anderson.
Helen graduated from Olympia High School and later from Central Washington University.
In 1943 she married Milton S. Akerill and they had four daughters together, Kathryn (Jerry) Christian, Christina (Bob) Horning, Corinne Akerill (Jim Schumock) and Gwen (Scott) Lowe. Milton died in 1962 and in 1968 she married Milton's cousin, Frank Akerill, who also preceded her in death.
Helen taught first grade in the following Washington schools: Granite Falls, Manson, Lower Naches, and Washougal.
She was active in the Genealogy Society and Beekeepers of Southwest Washington.
In addition to her daughters she is survived by her step-sons, Phillip, Jerry, Ken, and Frank Akerill; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons.
Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 2, 2010 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima, WA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the American Lung Association or Hospice.
