This is the 2nd tombstone on Lead Belly's grave near Mooringsport, in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. It was there from the late 1960s until the early 1990s. The first tombstone, now lost to time, was a simple cast concrete marker, according to the late poet Allan Ginsberg, who was at Lead Belly's burial. The latest tombstone contains errors, including the site of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. And the new stone faces the wrong way, so if you stand BEHIND the current marker you are actually standing on Lead Belly's grave.
