British Columbia Premier. The brother of A.E.B. Davie, he was called to the bar in 1877 and elected to the British Columbia legislature in 1882. In 1889, when John Robson became Premier, Theodore Davie was chosen attorney general and in 1892 succeeded Robson as premier. In 1895 he resigned to become Chief Justice of British Columbia. One of a succession of premiers who embodied the dominance of Victoria and Vancouver I in the political and economic life of late 19th-century British Columbia, during his premiership a loan bill for new Parliament Buildings "anchored" the capital in Victoria. His government passed a Redistribution Bill to give the mainland of the province greater representation in the legislature. His government also provided financial incentives to the railways in an effort to stimulate the economy. He died at the age of 45, while still in office.
