Malinda J. Spielman, daughter of Eliza Anna (née Haupt) and Jacob Spielman, junior, was born in Washington County, Maryland. Her father died in 1847, when she was 11. She was enumerated in 1850 in her maternal grandparents' household, and in 1860 with her mother and step-father.
Malinda Spielman and Joseph Zittle were married on 3 March 1861 in Boonsboro, Washington County, Maryland. The couple had five children, their full names and birth dates recorded in Malinda's Bible; four children lived to maturity.
The Zittle family in 1880 was farming in Morgan County, West Virginia. By 1890, Malinda and Jacob Zittle moved to Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, where she died in 1903.
