I worked with Chuck at St Vincent's Hospital & Medical Center. He was employed for 26 years 9 months in the Envirormental Services Department,he was the lead man on our night shift. He dedicatedly cleaned our operating rooms, and also helped with room set-up. His work ethic was awesome seldom did he miss a scheduled shift. Taking a vacation just wasn't something Charles did so at one point the hospital had to make Chuck take some time off because his paid-time-off bank had reached it's maximum.
Chuck was diagnosed with cancer. He was a lifelong smoker, he stopped smoking at that time.He continued to work as long as he could, then had to take retirement . He had recently purchased his first home.
Each night I go upstairs to the operating rooms I say hi to Chuck. I miss him and the good times we shared at night.
Sometimes the hair around his ears would get out of control and he would have to have his ears lowered.Thats what Chuck said when he had gotten a hair cut.
