US Congressman. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War as 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Quartermaster of the 34th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Elected to represent Indiana's 11th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1865 to 1867. Also served as a Member of the Indiana State House of Representatives in 1856, and United States Minister to Venezuela from 1867 to 1868.
