Officer Mark Stall was shot and killed as he and other officers made a high risk traffic stop. Boise officers had stopped the car and the two occupants refused to comply with orders given to them. The officers called for backup to initiate the high risk stop. The two occupants again exited the vehicle and immediately opened fire, striking Officer Stall on the right side of his body, just above his vest. Other officers returned fire, killing both suspects.

Officer Stall had served with the Boise Police Department for 3 years. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters. He is the first Boise officer known to have been killed in the line of duty in the department's 100 year history.

Officer Stall is memorialized at Panel 54-E: 20 on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Inscription

"A hero to us - your wife, daughters and family. Adored, prayed for, sung about, longed for. Your daughters hold you up high. Your wife was blessed to have you as her loving husband. You were a father, husband, and loved us more than life itself. Yes, you are our hero. Today, tomorrow, and forever. For being part of our lives, and for being who you were, was God's gift to us for earth's short while, and for eternity. We will love you always."
