Saxon Army Field Marshal and Governor of Dresden. The son of Polish King Augustus the Strong (or Augustus II), he was given the title of Chevalier de Saxe. He became a Knight of Malta, but later joined the army at the rank of general. In July 1763 he was appointed to the rank of field marshal. In 1764 he acquired the "Zinzendorfschen Garden" (today's Blüherpark ) that was located outside Dresden's city gates and built a magnificent rococo-style palace, from where he served as the city's governor. He died following a prolonged illness at the age of 69.
