U.S. Congressman. Immigrating with his parents to Canada, he worked on the family farm and moved to New York City, in 1893. Relocating to New Jersey, he served with the Second Regiment of New Jersey Volunteer Infantry during the Spanish American War. After the war, he became the owner and publisher of the New Jersey Passaic Herald. In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until his death from cancer at age 39.
