Joseph Paterno, 78, Clifford Township, PA., died Sunday evening, May 31, 2009 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Born June 10, 1930 in Lyndhurst, NJ., he was the son of the late Angelo and Mary Guido Paterno. He was a former resident of Lyndhurst, New Jersey and resided in the area for over 30 years. He was an Army veteran and was retired from the Teamsters Union of Hoboken, NJ. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Patrick, Nunzio and Anthony Paterno; four sisters: Angelina Abate, Margaret Cirino, Susan Pizzuro and Emily Greco. A blessing service was held Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA. Arrangements, Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
