Señor Gaetano Brandi - Musician, composer and teacher. His compiled work "The Man of Feeling" was published by Goulding and Phipps and was played, advertised and sold from 1800 for many years. He was the uncle and one of the teachers of Joseph Hayden Bourne Dando, musician and teacher.

There is little documentation for Gaetano Brandi's early life. From his marriage, we know much more about him. In 1790 he married Rebecca Dando at St. Anne's Church Soho. Rebecca Dando Brandi was born about 1758 and was buried the 27th of April 1842 in St. Pancras.

Gaetano and Rebecca Dando Brandi had at least four children, Joseph christened 1791 and his christening record is the only found record for his life; Rebecca christened 1792, who married dancing teacher Edward Corbett Bessell; Caroline Camilla born about 1794 who married merchant and patented writing pen designer Thomas Kent Clay; and Louisa born after 1798 who married Edward Gardner. Rebecca had one known daughter and Caroline Camilla had at least 6 children who married and had children of their own. Louisa was under the age of 21 at her 1818 marriage and permission was granted for her marriage by her natural and lawful father Gaetano Brandi, there are no records found for Louisa after 1818.

Played oboe at the Handel Memorial Concerts at Westminster Abbey and the Pantheon on 26, 27, and 29 May and 3 and 5 June 1784; The Public Advertiser listed the Opera Band members for the season and named Gaetano 1785; From "Analytical Review", Composed Six Sonatas for the German Flute and Bass, 1788; From "The World", Played Hautbois in the overture at Hanover Square March 19th, 1790 for Mr Giornowich's Music of Haydn; He was a member of the band at the Pantheon for the opera season that ran from 17 February to 19 July 1791; He played at the Haymarket on 15 January 1798 when the Messiah was performed; From "Monthly Review", Composed A Second and Third Solo for a German Flute with an accompaniment for a piano-forte, with reference to more compositions to be published, 1801; "National Library of Scotland", Edited, Compiled and published The Man of Feeling and performed – conducted the production, 1804; A flutist named Brandi was on the company list at the King's Theatre in the Haymarket in 1818 and it is possible that he was Gaetano. Many of this compositions and compilations are availavle at the British Library.

Gaetano was also Music Instructor to his nephew, Master Cellist and Violinist, Joseph Haydon Bourne Dando, who also became a performer and instructor. Gaetano is named in several published biographies about Joseph, and Gaetano, himself, is named in a biography. Gaetano's death and burial is recorded in the parish register of St Pancras Parish Chapel, Camden. He was buried the 28th of May 1829 in the old churchyard and the register states he was 101 years of age.
