Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Sergeant in the US Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Corporal for action at Hatcher's Run and Dabney's Mills, Virginia on February 6, 1865. His citation reads "Gallantly planted the colors on the enemy's works in advance of the arrival of the regiment."
