U.S. Congressman. At the age of eighteen, he moved west to various states where he engaged in agricultural, ranching and farming pursuits. Returning east in 1898, he settled in Massachusetts and operated a chain of restaurants. He was a member of the Massachusetts Governor’s council, (1913, 18-19) and a delegate to the Republican National Convention, (1920, 24). In 1925, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of George B. Churchill, reelected to the Seventieth Congress, serving until 1929. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his former business interests until his death at age 66.
