Hilda M. Johnson-Sera, 88, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Lower Burrell, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, in Allegheny Valley Hospital. She was born Dec. 20, 1922, in New Bethlehem, a daughter of the late Otto Arthur Scherf and Bessie (Dwyer) Scherf. She was a former member of Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lower Burrell and a member of Brackenridge American Legion. She enjoyed playing cards and bowling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Art Johnson; second husband, Frederick Sera; sister, Dorothy Bonkavich; and brother, Kenneth Scherf. She is survived by her daughters, Norma (Leon) Soroka, of New Kensington, Elizabeth Beighley, of New Port Richey, Fla., and Deborah (Stanley) Lingelbach, of Tarentum; brother, Arthur (Corrine) Scherf, of Lower Burrell; and seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, where service will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Kirk Orr officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
