U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Detroit College, in 1909, from the law department of Harvard University in 1912 and from the University of Detroit in 1914. He was admitted to the bar, commenced to practice law in Detroit and was legal adviser to the Michigan State Labor Department. He was an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Detroit, (1915-20) and a member of the Michigan State Senate, (1919-20). In 1921, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress, serving until 1923. Not a candidate for reelection, he was elected judge of the circuit court of Wayne County, serving (1924-54). He then practiced law until his death at age 69.
