US Congressman. During the Civil War he served in the Union Army as Captain of Company G, 85th New York Volunteer Infantry, being mustered in on December 1, 1861 and being honorably discharged on June 30, 1863. He was elected to represent New York's 29th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1889 to 1893.
