Famed German U-Boat Commander during World War II. Known as the "Bull of Scapa Flow," on 13 October 1939, Gunther Prien commanding U-47 entered Scapa Flow, Scotland, home of the British Home Fleet and sank the Royal Oak and escaped. He was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross by Adolf Hitler. Prien and his crew were lost at sea in 1941.
