US Congressman. Served in the United States Navy during World War II. Elected to represent Arizona's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1977 to 2002. Also served as a Member of the Arizona State House of Representatives from 1957 to 1967, and as a Member of the Arizona State Senate from 1967 to 1977. He was the Arizona Congressman who addressed the United States House of Representatives and falsely reported that comedian/actor Bob Hope had died, which caused an all out media frenzy.
