U.S Army Brigadier General, U.S. Congressman. Born the son of Revolutionary War Militia General and Congressman Thomas Glascock Sr., he studied law, was admitted to the bar and proceeded to open a legal practice in Augusta, Georgia. His military service included being a Captain of U.S. Volunteers in the War of 1812 and as a Brigadier General under General Andrew Jackson, in the First Seminole War in 1817. In politics, he was a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives, (1821, 23, 31-34, 39). In 1835, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of John W.A. Sanford and reelected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving until 1839. After leaving Congress, he lived in retirement until his death at age 50. Glascock County Georgia, he named in his honor.
