World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Corporal in the 7th Australian Division, 31st Battalion of the Queensland. On July 10,1941, his company was held down by heavy machine gun fire from Vichy French forces at Jezzine, Syria. On his own initiative Corporal Gordon began to crawl toward the enemy post. He than charged and killed the four men in the machine gun nest helping his company to take the remaining positions. For gallantry in action, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal and elevated to the rank of Warrant Officer II in April 1942.
