Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in Company F, 5th US Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on September 29, 1879 at Milk River, Colorado. His citation reads "Though painfully wounded, he remained on duty and rendered gallant and valuable service."
