U.S. Congressman. He attended Christian Brothers’ College Tennessee, moved to Texas, in 1875, where he became a merchant, importer and manufacturer in the city of Galveston. He was president of the Galveston Board of Education, (1889-93) and elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fifth and Fifty-sixth Congresses, serving (1897-1901). Not candidate for re-nomination, he organized and became president of the Cuban-American Sugar Company.
