US Congressman. During the Creek War, he served as a Major with General Andrew Jackson's troops. He was elected as a Representative from Tennessee to the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1817 to 1819. He was good friends with "Old Hickory," Andrew Jackson, and was a pallbearer for Jackson's funeral.
