Slovenian Nobility. The only daughter of a Slovenian count and Anna, the last-born of King Casimir III of Poland, in 1402 she became consort Queen of Poland by marrying King Ladislav II. She did not have a very active part in the political life of the country, with the the only exception being that intervened in favor of her daughter Hedwig as successor to the throne (1413). According to historians of the time, Anna was a not very attractive woman, but was very religious and submissive to husband. During her marriage she was the victim of court conspiracies which indicated her as guilty of adultery from which she was always exonerated.
