Mr. Carpenter was a lifelong resident of McMinn County. He was the son of the late William F. and Pamelia Woods Carpenter and was a member of Tranquility Methodist Church.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Emma Stair, and Mrs. G. K. Shultz, both of Athens; Mrs. E. H. Guinn, Lenoir City; two sons, W. F. (Bill) Carpenter of Ooltewah, T. Henry Carpenter, Niota; seven granddaughter and three grandsons; several great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Hicks, Branson, Colorado.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 3:30 p.m. at the Tranquility Methodist church with the Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The body is in state at the residence in the Tranquility Community, where it will remain until the hour of service.
