Jazz Musician. A pioneer jazz trombonist in the 1920s, he went on to produce lyrics for over 200 songs. Best known is the standard "A Cottage for Sale" (1929), written with composer Willard Robison. It has been recorded over 100 times by artists ranging from Gracie Fields and Frank Sinatra to Natalie Cole.
