George Charles Aid, Jr., 85, died Sept. 8, 2005. He was born in Anderson S.C., and lived in Vero Beach since 1981, coming from the New York City area. He worked in the photo business in New York City and served in the Navy during World War II.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and was an educational officer with the U.S. Power Squadron. He was a volunteer for Indian River Volunteer Ambulance Squad and Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include cousins, Martha Orr Davenport, Badfute Warwick Davenport Jr., Samuel Marshall Orr III, Peter Allen Orr, and Harry Allen Orr, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Adele Allotta, in 1989.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 P.M., Sept. 15 at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A service will follow at 2 P.M. at the funeral home chapel.
