Jazz Musician. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was a jazz drummer best known as the leader of the band, “MJT + 3” (1959-62). He began his career in the early 1950s, as recognized fixture in the Chicago jazz circuit performing with artist such as Ahmad Jamal, Art Farmer, Carmen McRae and Charles Mingus. As a session player, he recorded with Sonny Criss, Art Farmer Quartet, Billy Taylor, Clark Terry, George Shearing, Ray Bryant and many more. He also appeared as a regular at the annual Playboy Jazz Festival. During the 1970s, he did drumming for Erroll Garner and he helped found the Music for Young Adolescents program in New York City, in 1985. In his later years, he gigged occasionally at clubs around New York and with bassist bandleader William Parker, he recorded the album, “Bob's Pink Cadillac” (2002). He died of cancer at age 72 in Jamaica, New York.
