Brigadier General, Politician. Actively involved in the Black Hawk wars both as Adjutant and as a Colonel,he was later comissioned as a Brigadier General by Govener Stevens T. Mason. In 1838 Smith was elected as a Represenative to the State Legislature from Lenawee County.
