Sixth child of William Biddle III and Mary Scull Biddle.

CHARLES BIDDLE, of Philadelphia; b. there 24th December, 1745; d. there 4th April, 1821; January, 1776, joined Captain COWPERTHWAIT'S Company of the Quaker Light Infantry; Vice-President, Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania for two years, when Benjamin FRANKLIN was President; m. 25th November, 1778, at Beaufort, South Carolina, Hannah SHEPARD.

Married to Hannah Shepard. They had 10 children.

1). Mary Biddle ( - 1854). Married John Gideon Biddle on August 22, 1820.

2). Nicholas Biddle (born in 1779 and died in infancy).

3). William Shepard Biddle (February 21, 1781-May 30, 1835). He was first married to Circe Deroneray, then to Elizabeth Bordon Hopkinson.

4). James Biddle (February 18, 1783-October 1, 1848). Commodore, United States Navy.

5). Edward Biddle (1784-November 14, 1800). Midshipman, United States Navy. Buried At Sea.

6). Nicholas Biddle (January 8, 1786-February 27, 1844). Director, 2nd United States Bank.

7). Charles Biddle Jr. (August 9, 1787-December 31, 1836).

8). Thomas Biddle (November 21, 1790-August 29, 1831). Major, United States Army.

9). John Biddle (1792-August 25, 1859). Major, US Army, Mayor of Detroit, Michigan.

10). Richard Biddle (March 25, 1796-July 7 1847). Congressman, US House of Representatives.
