Granny Grouch was how she was known by loved ones.

Edna was born to Albert Henry and Mittie Frances Worlein in Miami Kansas. As a child, she moved with her family to a farm south of Kinsley, Kansas. She graduated from Kinsley High School and attended teachers college at Fort Hayes State College. Edna married Herbert Louis Brown on February 24, 1928, at Dodge City, Kansas. She was a librarian at Kinsley from 1940 to 1972, when she retired at age 65.
