Entertainer. Born Joseph Antony Palladino in New York's Greenwich Village, He is dubbed the last of the great Burlesque players who's career in comedy spanned nearly 70 years. He served in the USO entertaining the troupes in Europe with Marlene Dietrich, during WW2. He is the author of many famous sketches from Vaudeville and Burlesque, such as "Slowly I Turn," and "Floogle Street." He was an early television pioneer, appearing on the first experimental TV at The New Yorks World's Fair in 1940. He performed at The White House for a command performance for Pres. Lyndon B. Johnson. On Broadway, He was in over 30 hit shows. Legendary for his generosity among those who knew him, he was honored in a Broadway Tribute at his old place of business, The New Victory Theatre on 42nd Street (Minsky's, Old Republic Theater) with the legendary stars of radio, tv, stage and screen. He made international news when he passed away at the age of 87.
