Anne Gallaway Mackie Fitzgibbon was born April 28, 1934 in Chapel Hill, Orange County, North Carolina to Dr. Ernest Lloyd Mackie and Romagna Adeline Gallaway Mackie. Anne had one sibling, William Ernest Mackie. Anne was the great-niece of famed educator Romana Riley. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and went on to be a drama professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. With her first husband, Daniel Francis Fitzgibbon, she had one child, Kathleen "Kitty" Laura Fitzgibbon. She had no children with her second husband, Lewis Alan Goldstein. Anne died shortly before her 58th birthday on April 8, 1992 in Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina. She was cremated.
