A memorial service for James E. Hugghins, Sr., 71, Athens is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday at Central Church of Christ, 1408 Cream Level Road with David Arnold officiating.
Private burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Mr. Hugghins died May 9, 2012 in Tyler.
He was born Jan. 24, 1941 in Corsicana to the late Ellie Daniel and Katie Bell Phinney Hugghins. Following graduation from Athens High School in 1959, James earned an Associate of Science degree at Henderson County Junior College, then later attended Texas Tech University.
He had a long rewarding career in sales. James served a 15-year tenure with Kirby Vacuum Cleaners, starting in sales, promoted to sales manager in 1974, promoted to area distributor in 1976, then factory distributor in 1979.
In 1991 he joined Jim Walters Homes in sales, then promotions to branch manager and district manager. He held the record at Jim Walters for selling the greatest number of homes in a single month.
After Jim Walters closing, James went to work for Humana selling Medicare Part D endorsements.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Clovis Sessions Hugghins, Dec. 30, 2009.
Survivors include children, brother, 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
