Archpriest of Lourdes during the Marian apparitions of 1858. Ordained a priest in 1835, he was appointed parish priest of the new church located in the High Pyrenees in 1854, and is known for his charity for the poor as well as for the support to Bernadette Soubirous. He was the founder of the Marian sanctuary. Peyramale was appointed Monsignor after the diocesan inquiry about the authenticity of the apparitions. In 1874, Pope Pius IX elevated him to the rank of Apostolic Prothonotary. He died before the completion of the sanctuary at the age of sixty-six.
