Funeral services will be conducted this (Tuesday) afternoon at Spring Hill cemetery for Mrs. Charles (Mary Beattie) Armstrong of Johnstown, Ohio.

Mrs. Armstrong fell several weeks ago and broke her hip and never recovered from the shock. She was 87 years old. She was a native of this section having been born near Shippensburg. Mr. Armstrong is cashier of the bank in Johnstown and survives his wife. Mrs. J. Paul Fogelsonger, a niece of Mrs. Armstrong and John Beattie of Newville, a nephew, are among the surviving relatives of the deceased.

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Armstrong, 87, who died in Johnstown, Ohio, were held Tuesday afternoon at her former, Shippensburg. The funeral cortege arrived by motors from Ohio. Services were conducted by Rev. William H. Galbreath, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg, and burial was made in the family plot.

Mrs. Armstrong fell and broke her hip recently and she never recovered from the accident. She was born at the homestead, a short distance from Shippensburg. She was a scion of the prominent Beattie family, whose ancestors were John and Lamatta Beattie, early settlers of Scotch-Irish descent.

The death certificate states birth place as Shippensburg. The obituaries both state near Shippensburg. She would have been born in a surrounding township. The place of birth field only reflects Pennsylvania because the Shippensburg borough and surrounding area is in two counties, Franklin and Cumberland, and neither the death certificate or the obituary states in which county she was born.
