On September 18, 1937 he married the former Ethel Braun and they moved to Peshtigo on October 1, 1945. He had been employed at the Menasha Woodenware Co. until 1945 and then at the Badger Paper Mills from 1945 to 1980 where he was Director of Purchasing and Office Manager. He was also on the Board of Directors, and held the position of Secretary and Treasurer.
When Alvin lived in Menasha he was a member and church council member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. When they moved to Peshtigo he was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and church council member for many years. He was also a member of the PIDC, Chamber of Commerce, joined the Lions Club in 1945 and has been a member ever since, a member of the Peshtigo School Board, the Menasha Germania's and the Civil Air Patrol in Peshtigo. Alvin was an announcer for the baseball games at Badger Paper Mills baseball diamond and was supervisor for the skating at the Badger Paper Mill rink in the evenings. He was an avid ice skater and bowler.
He is survived by his wife Ethel;
And his 3 children, Marilyn Adrian Becher; James (Eleanore) Adrian; and Ellen (Anthony) Fritz; all of Peshtigo, Wisconsin;
6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Peshtigo from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Paul Cole will be officiating and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo
