My Gram, Alma R.Irby was born to William C. and Nancy Jane (Dill) Tucker in Agnos Arkansas where she was raised and received her early education. She moved to Wenatchee in July of 1939. She married, my Grandad, Gordon Irby on October 31, 1940, in Wenatchee, where they made their home and resided for the rest of their lives. Gram had 7 children from a first marriage. When she married my grandfather, they had one son (my father).
She worked in sales for various business including Avon. She also operated her own glassware shop out of her home and, due to that, was featured in many local write ups.
She was a long standing and faithful member of the Kings Orchard Christian Church (where she would feed me Butter Rum Lifesavers to shush me!). She loved to sing all the hymns of the church. Later, when Alzheimer's was robbing her of her memory, she would still sing those songs.
Gram suffered, for many years, with Alzheimers and passed away at Parkside Care Center after complications due to that awful disease.
