Mervyn was my Grandfather. He was a wonderful man. He married Dorothy Loflin on June 15, 1940. Dorothy passed away on Feb. 9, 2019. They had two children, Jean Leftridge, my Mom,of Barnett Mo, and Jack Howard of Hunnewell, Mo. They both survive. Mervyn worked for Home Hydro Gas company in Shelbina for many years. Propane and propane accessories. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. Mervyn enjoyed all kinds of sporting events and his Ancient Age and 7up at 4pm sharp. Grandpa battled moles in the yard for decades. They drove him crazy lol. I managed to trap one after I noticed mole tunnels in the yard. I included a picture as a memorial to the mole wars. I will always cherish the memories I have of going to visit him and Grandma. We didnt get to see them very often and it was very special to me when we did. Thanks Grandpa. Mervyn died of cancer in the Salt River Nursing home in Shelbina, Mo............................................................."Day unto day uttereth speech. The clouds change. The seasons pass over our woods and fields in their slow and regular procession. And the time is gone before you are aware of it." -Thomas Merton...........................................................
