Jacqueline was born to Hershel E.& Bernice Stanford at their home on Ponce De Leon Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on her daddy's birthday, he was said to have declared, "My birthday present is this Georgia Peach."
As she grew up she learned to play classical piano. She loved Bach and Debussy the best. Her Clair de Lune was both haunting & beautiful. She played top 40 songs during the 60's such as Wipe Out and Cast Your Fate To The Wind. Jacqueline taught piano lessons in her home. She also loved to draw, paint, read and sew. She was quite an accomplished artist, which led to a job she loved as the Art Director for Mobile (Alabama) Arts and Recreation Department. She taught both children and adults art skills and how to do crafts and she directed the pageants.
Jackie graduated from the Napsonian High School in the class of 1949. She was mostly a straight A student. Jackie went to Auburn U. where she met David Fridge. They married & had six children: Star, Cory (who preceded her in death)David III, Evan, Heather & Scot. They settled in Mobile, AL and later moved to S. E. Louisiana before moving back to Atlanta. She said her favorite place was Morgan City, Louisiana. She loved the culture and friendly people. She also loved the food. She was a very talented cook in her own right.
She had an unforgettable laugh and loved Charlton Heston. She loved coffee in the mornings with cream cheese toast and blackberry preserves. She loved taking long bicycle rides with her youngest two children. She loved visiting with her neighbors Margaret and Hannas. She loved the majesty of the Episcopal Church: she directed the choir and sometimes played the organ. She appreciated the exquisite beauty in the time honored rituals.
Jackie had six children, 9 grandchildren & five great grandchildren. She is dearly missed.
She requested that she be cremated, which she was. Later her oldest daughter scattered her ashes on holy ground in New Mexico.
