True Love

Lorraine was born in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Lorraine Dinquel. She graduated from Woodruff High School, and married the love of her life, Fred Stobaugh, on June 26, 1940, there in Peoria. In addition to raising a family, she was employed as a line checker with Hiram Walker for 25 years, before retiring in 1978. She and Fred enjoyed taking bus trips together, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She passed away at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria, with her devoted husband of 73 years at her side. She is survived by Fred; her three daughters, Pamela Chamberlain, Marcy Hemp of Bartonville and Valarie (Mark) Mason of Peoria; four grandchildren, Rocky (Anne) Hemp Jr, Angie (Jeff) Brabson, Sarah and Samuel Mason; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Donna Gorgas. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; and one son-in-law, Rocky Hemp Sr. A funeral service was held at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with Pastor Harold Green officiating.

Lorraine and Fred shared a lifetime of loving each other. At the age of 96, shortly after her passing, Fred wrote the lyrics of a song for her called, "Sweet Lorraine". He entered it in a song-writing contest sponsored by Green Shoe Studio, Inc. Although he didn't win the contest, the studio contacted him, recorded the song professionally, and you can see the whole story of how that came to be by clicking here, "A Letter from Fred: Official Documentary". You will be blessed by it.

In late August 2013, their love story became national news, when it was featured on all the major network television stations and newspapers. It's also become an internet sensation with millions of hits on YouTube and downloads on iTunes. On Friday, August 30, 2013, Fred became ABC's Person of the Week. May their love continue to live on and on and on...
