My father was the second of twenty children of Felix Lacasse and Julliette Martel. In his early years, he worked as a sausage maker in Montreal. On May 1, 1944, he started working with the Montreal Fire Department. A twenty-eight year veteran, his career ended on February 11, 1971, after receiving a serious injury sustained after falling from one of the department vehicles. In 1976, he took a job as a Pinkerton security guard and held it for eleven years before retiring in 1987. He passed away on January 18, 1999 at the age of eighty-one of diabetes and is survived by his wife, Laurence, six children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
