Grew up among prominent Brooklyn society. As her family was one of the first in Brooklyn to own a car, she used to tell how she would sit in the back of the car, and tickle the boys on the street corner with a long feather as the car drove by. In 1920 she married Francis P. Briody. They had two sons, Frank Jr (Frankie) and Richard (Dick)
