Retired as a Justice of the Peace and Magistrate in Granite City Illinois. As a younger man he had a business selling Farm equipment and was also a carpenter.

William B. Curtiss of Granite City, and a native of Waverly, died at his home Tuesday, April 22, at 9:00 p.m., following a short illness. He was the brother of Frank H. Curtiss of this city, and was 86 years of age.
Deceased was born at Waverly July 7, 1871, a son of the late Fred and Jane Brown Curtiss. In early life he followed the occupation of farming, residing east of Waverly, and later was a member of the farm implement firm of Groves & Curtiss in this city, before moving to Granite City, where he had continued to reside.
Mr. Curtiss was married on October 10, 1894 to Miss Gertrude Foster, of Springfield, who survives him, together with one daughter, Mrs. Lyle Dennis, of Granite City; two sons, Fred Curtiss, of Omaha, Neb., and Foster Curtiss, of Chicago; a brother, Frank H. Curtiss, of Waverly; a sister, Miss Louise Curtiss, of Virginia; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church in Granite City, and a 50-year member of the Masonic lodge.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, April 25, at 11 o'clock, at the Presbyterian church in Granite City and the remains will be brought to Waverly, for burial in East cemetery at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon.
