She was an accomplished musician on the piano and accordion and when she and her sister Lorene were in their teens and early twenties they sang intermittently on the radio in Fort Worth on the Stamps-Baxter Quartet program, Eline playing her accordion in accompaniment. On one occasion a man with a shiny head walked in the studio and Eline got so tickled for what ever reason that she couldn't sing and that was the end of their radio career.
Eline met her husband Jimmy Lindsey at church and they were married soon after. They have three children, Bertha Eline, Janie Sue, and James Robin and there was one baby boy between Bertha and Janie that was premature and stillborn. He was not given a name.
Eline was a world of fun and always ready for a challenge or adventure. She always wanted to be a race car driver or a jet pilot ... ambitions that never came to fruition.
She died instantly from a massive stroke caused by an aneurism in her brain; the obituary that follows failed to mention that she was also survived by her three children and six grandchildren.
Died 6 a.m. Tuesday at her residence in Texas. She was 51,a native of West Texas and a resident of Sanger, Tx. She lived in Baton Rouge from 1946 to 1969. Body at Coker Funeral Home, Sanger, Tex. with visiting until religious services at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Denton, Tex.
Survived by her mother, Mrs. Essie Brown, Sanger, Tex.
Preceded in death by her father, Ben T. Brown.
