Husband of Debra Graves Dawson, father of David George Dawson, Mark Douglas Dawson and Kimberly Renee Dawson-Hodson.

His first wife, Priscilla Woods Dawson Eggleston is mother to his daughter, Kimberly Renee Dawson-Hodson and his son, Mark Douglas Dawson. He also left behind a loving sister Brenda Dawson Mosely (Roy), as well as his four loving grandchildren, two nephews and a niece.

He graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. He was number 784 in the State of Alabama to receive his Certified Public Accounting degree.
He spent six years in the Alabama Air National Guard. His memorial service was held on Monday June 30th, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Ridouts Roebuck Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama.I could not believe it - there was standing room only, 3 or 4 groups on both sides of the room had to stand it was so close to the doors of the chapel. I did not realize he had so many friends.

He practiced Public Accounting in Birmingham AL.
He was a loving husband and father and is missed by all. He loved going to the house in "the country", walking the property and playing with his tractors. He could never go on a walk unless Maggie went with him, he went to Georgia to hunt for wild boar with a group of his friends from Selma, Al and came back with a litter of puppies that had been abandoned and he fell in love with the cutest tan puppy, he named her Maggie. Maggie spent her entire life (except for the vet visits and Vince & Maggie both hated those)on our little farm in Selma. He hated coming home to Birmingham and leaving her there, but she hated riding in the car, but she had daily visits for company as well as fresh food and water and usually a treat or two.

Our youngest son had several friends that had fathers missing but when they came to our house he was always there for each one, whether it be advice, praise or just a good chewing out. He preached education to all of them (an old girlfriend is now a CPA because of him) and he put his money where his mouth was to purchase books, etc, that they couldn't afford. He loved spending time talking with all young people. He was an avid Alabama fan and never got over the passing of Bear Bryant. He loved all three of his children very much and was so happy his daughter gave him four grandchildren.

He loved the show Law and Order, when I came home from work I went into the den & that show was on the TV, I thought Vince was asleep, but he wasn't, he had passed away. He simply went to sleep not to wake up in this world but in Heaven.
Cause of death - heart disease.

YOU NEVER SAID YOU WERE LEAVING
YOU NEVER SAID GOODBYE
YOU WERE GONE BEFORE I KNEW IT
AND ONLY GOD KNOWS WHY
A MILLION TIMES I NEEDED YOU
A MILLION TIMES I HAVE CRIED
IF LOVE ALONE COULD HAVE SAVED YOU
YOU NEVER WOULD HAVE DIED
IN LIFE I LOVED YOU SO DEARLY
AND IN DEATH I LOVE YOU STILL
IN MY HEART YOU HOLD A PLACE
THAT NO ONE COULD EVER FILL
IT BROKE MY HEART TO LOSE YOU
BUT YOU DID NOT GO ALONE
FOR PART OF ME WENT WITH YOU
THE DAY GOD TOOK YOU HOME.
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MY DARLING.
