RALEIGH - Joan Connor Rinne entered the Kingdom of Heaven on June 23, 1998.
Joan was born June, 9, 1929 to Walter and Mildred Connor in Connecticut. She has a brother Donald S. Connor in California.
She attended finishing school at Edgewood Park Connecticut before attending Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA. The friendships she made during that time are still intact.
While attending MCA she met the love of her life and soul mate Ray A. Rinne, whom she wed June 27, 1953. Joan and Ray enjoyed 45 wonderful years together and their strong bond is an inspiration to us all.
Joan and Ray produced six children, Glenn, Karen, Stephen, Bruce, Patrick and Michael. In addition they also have a 8 grandchildren with another on the way. The grandchildren are Kyle, Kendall, Erika, Kayla, Alexis, Gerald, Eric and Claire.
Joan was a most loving wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend. Though she will be deeply missed she has found peace and grace after a very long and vicious illness.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Rex Hospital for their kindness, concern and knowledge through this difficult time, especially Laurie, Kathy, Ms. Tillly and Joanne. Dr. David Goff has been the family physician for many years and he gave our mother the very best care and we are forever grateful.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Saint Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Rev. David D. Brockman offficiating. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, Wake Forest.
The family will receive friends at the church from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday with a vigil Litergy at 7:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1005 Bullard Court, Raleigh, N. C. 27615; or the Saint Luke The Evangelist Catholic Church, 12333 Bayleaf Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
