Martha Emma Cossa was born in Bronx County, New York City on March 12, 1917. Living in New York all of her life, she eventually met and married Victor Brenna on August 23, 1943. In 1949, she would give birth to her only child, Victoria. Martha was an accomplished seamstress who worked in the New York garment district. One of her many talents was her cooking skills, creating fine Italian and German dishes that delighted her family and friends. She was an avid dog lover all of her life. In her community, her door was always open to family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed helping others no matter who they were and her infectious laugh made her a joy to be with.
