Robert Paul Simon " Bobby" was the son of Edward Simon and Edna Mae Jenkins. He entered the Navy, and his submarine "Gudgeon" never returned from it's mission in June of 1944 in the Pacific Ocean. That is when he died, but his military plaque reads January 15, 1946 which is when they declared him legally dead, 18 months after he was officialy missing. He also served on the "Mingo" in the Pacific, and his unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.

Bobby was lost at sea, but he is listed on his parents headstone in Mount Auburn Cemetery, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Bobby's name is also on the Honolulu AMBC Monument in Hawaii.
